Chile, country of the year in 2010

Every Pollutec has a country of the year and South and Central America are very much at the top of the show’s list of priorities, given the economic significance of the region’s leading countries, the speed with which they are taking environment challenges on board, as well as the outstanding opportunities that exist for co-operation with France and more generally with European companies and organizations involved in the environment.

Chile has a dynamic and sound economy offering a range of real business opportunities in the environment field. Chile also offers bridges for the transfer of
technology between Europe and Latin America. Pollutec 2010 aims to encourage
these exchanges by welcoming numerous companies and leading institutional figures from Chile presenting their knowhow, priorities and opportunities for co-operation.

Following on from Brazil (2006) and then Mexico (2008), the Franco-Chilean Chamber of Commerce is working with its leading partners, >Prochile (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and AEPA (environment companies association), to stage the Pollutec 2010 Country of the Year programme.

Pollutec 2010 is hosting:

> A National pavilion (Hall 6 – Aisle H – Stand n° 96) features the Ministry of Environment, PROCHILE, the Association of Chilean municipalities AMCH, the University of Concepción, the National Institute of Agricultural Studies INIA and private sector companies in the field of cellulose (ARAUCO) or energy/air-conditioning (AIRPAC)

> An official delegation led by Maria Ignacia Benitez, Minister of the
Environment (CONAMA), will include other public and private sector institutions
representing leading areas of the country’s industry and environment.

> The participation of fifteen mayors (Vitacura, Iquique, La Granja, Lampa, Lo Banechea, Easter Island...) looking for techniques and ready for an exchange
of experience with their French counterparts.

> A SME delegation from the cities of Santiago (co-ordinated by Eurochile), Temuco (Araucania region), Iquique (Tarapacà region), Antofagasta (Antofagasta region), Talca (Maule region) and Valparaiso will be searching for solutions and technological partnerships with major European enterprises.

> Business meetings on the country’s official pavilion (Hall 6 – Allée H – Stand 96) and the participation of Chilean visitors through the international b2fair business convention - Rooms 2 and 3.
